Lake Wairarapa Cycle Challenge 2022

Open to riders of all ages & abilities. E-bikes welcome in either distance. Junior grade aged 17 & under on event day.

We will be accepting entries on the day.

DISTANCE OPTIONS:

  • 64k
  • 80k. 

There's an option for all and a great way to prepare for the 2023 2-Day Tour!

Online entries will be taken up until 8th December (guaranteed lunch!). Final start lists will be published the following day.

ENTRY FEES for on the day

  • Individual - $95
  • Tandem - $140
  • Junior (under 17yrs) $55

LATE ENTRY: 

  • ​​​​​​​On the day Late entries may be accepted until 8.15am.  An additional $10 fee will be added. Payment on the day can be made by cash or internet banking only
  • We regret we cannot guarantee lunch to on-the-day entrants
  • Start groups are limited to 50 per wave. On-the-day entries may be allocated to a group that is not the preferred option

REFUNDS & TRANSFERS: 

  • No refunds will be issued unless there are extenuating circumstances, in which case the Race Organiser will have sole discretion.
  • Ride entries are not transferable to another person
  • The ride will be held wet or fine

Due to traffic management complications, we have changed the route for this years (postponed) event!

The 80km course now heads out towards Ocean Beach with a turnaround at the top of the wee hill...

The 64km course will turn left on to East-West Access road & turnaround a couple of kms down that road.

DIRECTIONS TO START AREA HERE

REGISTRATION is the  ANZAC Hall (cnr Bell & Birdwood Sts), Featherston.

Registration opens at 7.45am.

START TIMES:
Early start at 8.30 am.  This start is reserved for riders who expect to take up to 4 hours to complete either the 80km or 64km course.  If you are unable to complete 80k in under 4 hours we suggest you enter the 64k event. If you wish to use the early start you must select that option when you complete your entry form. E-bikes are welcome in the early start.

80km first group starts at 9.00am

64km starts at 10.00am

Your starting group is determined by your estimated finish time. You must start in your allocated wave as you will only receive an official race time if you do so.

If you start in the wrong wave you will receive a personal (mat to mat) time only.

For safety purposes wave sizes will be limited to 50 or less.

​​​​​​​Finish is on Revans Street, Featherston (as you come back into town). If you do not complete the ride please notify the race manager. Please ride straight through the finish line.  Do not stop, do not linger, do not return.  Your timing tag is not reusable.

LUNCH: will be available from 11:30 am

PRIZE-GIVING: starts at 12:45 pm
